AHP Day 2010

Will there be one this year?

SoyCon/ Hetalia in Botanic Gardens

I cant believe I'm just finding out about this community now (; A ;) *epic fail on my side*

Anyway, I posted an entry in the main Hetalia LJ Community about SoyCon and a possible meet-up that will be taking place sometime mid July- early August (we have yet to set a specific date) at Botanic Gardens in Glencoe. If anyone is interested we have an ongoing discussion here:

Zombie Hetalia? Who's interested!!??

I posted this awhile back on facebook, but not here for whatever reason:

Well I know it's a bit early to start thinking about this, but what can I say. I'm excited! Basically this is to discuss if people would be interested in a group cosplay for acen. But not just any cosplay. As this year's theme is Halloween, (because it's the 13 anniversary) I think it would be a good idea to go as zombie Hetalia. I'm not going to say I thought up of this. I'm pretty sure someone mentioned this to me in passing, so whoever thought of this kudos to you.

Feel free to tell me what you think!

loooove fem Japan~

Winter meetup

Alright, I'm sorry to do this to you guys again, but an "official" winter meetup just doesn't seem to be going smoothly, so I'm cancelling the tentative January 16th date. Please forgive me, but I just ended up being a lot busier than I imagined. orz I really like that you guys are posting about other events or get-togethers though, so keep doing that! It will help keep everybody in touch =) I'm sure we'll be arranging for another gathering over the summer, when schedules aren't as tight as they are during the school year.

Also, apparently there was a little incident with someone trolling the community recently? I don't know if they were making posts on here (if they did, I didn't see them, or they deleted their post or something) or what, but if anything like that happens on here and I don't catch it within like, an hour or so, feel free to give me a heads-up like on Facebook or even text me if you have my number if it's something serious, and I'll take care of it ASAP. :'D

But anyway! I hope y'all had/are having a good vacation!

ACen Battle of the Rock Bands!

So, this year at ACen they're having another Rock Band competition.

Anybody interested in making a cosplay group?

Here's the info for it- [link]

Basically, you need four people. You pick three songs ahead of time, then the judges pick one of them for the group to perform.

Also, you have to sign up online before ACen. I dunno when they're gonna open it up, but it'd be good to plan ahead.

And at some point they're going to put up a list of songs to choose from.

I went to the one last year, and some of the performances where pretty awesome.

I was actually supposed to compete with a group of Phoenix Wright cosplayers, but we didn't get our turn. T_T

But yeah, I just figured it'd be good to plan ahead so the group could practice ahead of time.
Basically, a few hundred participants board the subway, then take off their pants mid-ride, arriving at their destination in their undies in sub-zero weather.

Participate in the No Pants! Subway Ride in Chicago-- Cosplayed as your favorite Hetalia character, and wearing your (or your seme's) National Flag boxers~

Originally started and spread by: http://improveverywhere.com/missions/the-no-pants-subway-ride/

An international project, for the brave, for fun. =w=

This is the 4th year Chicago has participated. Last years event was a great success with over 150 people participating!

Sunday, January 10, 2010
12:00pm - 3:00pm
Berger Park (Corner of Granville and Sheridan)
6205 N Sheridan Rd
Chicago, IL

695 confirmed participants this year~

You'd only need money for the subway, and possibly for lunch (if you guys wanted to hang out afterwards for a short while). Or we can all go out to Mitsuwa together afterwards or somethin'.

Anybody wanna go to it with meh? Sundays are boring, anyways.

Tentative date

Okay, I was thinking for our winter meet-up, to have it on Saturday, January 16th, possibly at Navy Pier. I just think Navy Pier has a lot of indoor things for everyone to do, there's a lot of space for people to do whatever they want, lots of places to eat in one area, and nobody's going to care if we get a little loud. We are also relatively close to the Museum Campus so maybe there will be things for us to do around there, idk. Does this sound doable for most of you?

It's so freaking cold!

Hey guys! It's been a while. I haven't checked here in a bit and I don't think a lot of people did either! xD Took a look at the last post and decided to compile a little list of places we can go in December. I'm looking at major winter events at Chicago first though I'll start gathering a few museum names, their free times, and what they're showing.

Mind you now, I'm not looking for any art museums. Not sure for many of you but most art galleries do not allow cameras [though we can sneak them in but not exactly very fun to do really quick photo taking to abide by the rules] and they are also very small and small spaces can easily kick us out.

I should know. I been to quite a lot of art museums lately for art class. -_-;

So here's what I have so far. Getting more quickly but I'll put the dates and times and so on by each of them. Comment with any ideas guys! I don't want to sound like I'm rushing but if we stay indecisive, we might not have a lot of choices. xD

Changing the date

Hi everybody, I know I made a post awhile ago about the date for the next meetup. Originally it was set for December 19th, but I think after hearing more people say that this isn't a great day, I'm going to change it to sometime in January, preferably before we all have to go back to school.

So, and I would reeeally like as many people as possible to give me some input on this, when in January would be a good day? How about a weekday? This might be a good idea opposed to going downtown on a weekend, since more places are open during the week, it's possible that we could go to a museum on a Free Day, etc.

So for right now, there is no meetup on December 19th.

Meetup from ACen forums

This weekend there's a Hetalia Picnic organized by some people from the ACen forums.

I just thought some of you might be interested.

Info copy-pasted from the threadCollapse )

If you don't have an ACen forum account, I could RSVP for you there.
